The Board has been reviewing lake facilities with an eye towards repair and replacement of aging infrastructure. We have identified several items that need attention, with some being bigger ticket projects.
As an example, repair of our tennis courts was on the list. Work has begun on that project.
This fall’s lake drawdown allowed a better view of the posts and structure of the docks at the Castrodale Marina. We found significant deterioration and the decision was made to replace the marina docks while the lake is lowered.
Members of the Building and Grounds committee wrestled with several designs trying to maximize docking spaces, improve safety, and contain costs.
The new design has parking for 6+ boats, is expandable, has wider docks, and has a place to park the lake’s pontoon boat. We have attached a sketch of the new layout.
We are also going to make improvements to the end of the concrete boat ramp. These improvements will allow us to launch boats during periods of lake drawdown with a 4-wheel drive vehicle. The changes will also eliminate the current drop off at the end of the ramp.
Construction is just underway. We hope you enjoy the new docks and layout for years to come.
