The 2025 Communications Committee is planning a new monthly feature called “Did You Know?”. Information relative to FTL will be posted monthly on FTL’s website and official FB page.

For our first article, we decided to start with some trash talk.

Did you know:
1)    Garbage disposal is one of the most significant annual expenses paid by FTL. The lake’s trash bill is approximately $50K per year and keeps rising.

2)    FTL’s small dumpsters are emptied twice per week, normally Monday and Thursday mornings, while the rollback (the big dumpster) is emptied only when necessary.

3)    As FTL’s trash disposal costs rise, there are ways you can help keep the bill down! FTL is charged a set fee per month for the small dumpsters, whereas the rollback is charged by weight plus an extra fee for hauling. Whenever possible (especially for bigger/heavier trash), it’s most economical to fill the small dumpsters first.

4)    As a reminder, disposal of tires, batteries, hazardous waste, oils, furniture, constructiuon materials, and appliances is not permitted in FTL dumpsters.

5) If you have any metal items such as toasters, grills, lawn mowers, weed eaters, hot water tanks, etc.   they can be recycled by placing them in the roll off dumpster located at the Maintenance Barn.

Now you know!
