You may have noticed the flag at half-staff at the entrance to the lake. We do it to honor members of our community who have passed. The flag is currently lowered to honor James Garrett Anderson III, or Jim, as he was fondly known in our community. Jim resided at Lot 24 along with his wife Ellen.

Jim was an attorney and among his many accomplishments had the distinction of arguing and winning a case before the United States Supreme Court. He had a long history of serving his community. This included being instrumental in organizing the Ghent Volunteer Fire Department as well establishing the Trinity Presbyterian Church.

The Anderson's have significant history at Flat Top Lake. Jim's father (Dr. J.G Anderson) was one of the 15 founding members of the Flat Top Lake Association and Jim was able to see the lake being built. Jim, his father, and son have all served on the Board of Directors over the years.

Our thoughts are with his family as we honor a life well lived.
